The scheme envisages the diversion of the tail race discharge (200 cumecs) of Kulhal power house and utilising a drop of 44.3 m available in river Yamuna between Kulhal and Tajewala head works. The head works are located at Kulhal about 50 km. from Dehradun. Power channel 13 km long including 1.2 km long twin tunnels of 6.2m dia aligned on the left bank of Yamuna river shall feed a surface power house, located at 13.4 km. of power channel, of 72 MW installed capacity. 4.1 km long tail race is being constructed to discharge water in Yamuna. Power generation on 90% availability shall be 377.47 x 106 KWH prior to Lakhwar and 426.9 x 106 KWH after Lakhwar.
