Yamuna stage-II part-II of the scheme utilize the escape water from the Chibro power house and a drop of 62m available between Chibro and Dakpathar. a 7.5 m diameter circular 5.6 km long power tunnel designed for 225 cumecs off takes from the collection chamber just downstream of Chibro power house which traverses in its first 500 metres length under river Tons and Chibro.
Tunnel of Part-II feeds a surface power house constructed at the foot hill on the upstream of the reservoir created by the Dakpathar barrage. The power house has 4 vertical shaft Francis turbine units of 30 MW. each with a total annual generation potential of 450 million units. A 21 m diameter 65m high spilling surge tank has been provided on the upstream of the power house.
Another uniue feature of this scheme is that both Chibro & Khodri power houses are running in tandem. This has no precedence in the world. All the problems in operation of these power houses in tandem, have been tackled and solved by the engineers of the state through computer studies.
