 Carry out studies related to ground water regime, interaction of subsoil water with hydraulic structure built on permeable foundations. The studies carried out with the aid of electrical analogy models include safety of the foundations of byepass spillway of Dhalipur Power House, Yamuna Hydel Scheme was studied.
Among other studies worth mentioning are the design of Yamuna barrage against uplift pressures and Tirhut Canal Siphon in Bihar, where as a result of model studies, savings of lacks of rupees were effected. A 15 cm diameter horizontal pressure release valve was also evolved for the lining of main western Gandak Canal. Determination of uplift pressures, safety of hydraulic structures against uplift pressures, design of tubewells, water logging and lining of canals has also been carried out in the laboratory.
